The Heart Foundation ran a campaign to encourage people to learn how to check their pulse.
An irregular pulse – or arrhythmia – can be a sign of a heart condition, the most common being atrial fibrillation. If you have atrial fibrillation, you have an increased chance of having a stroke. Your doctor can help you manage your condition and there are medications you can take that can help reduce the risk of stroke
